I am honored to have the help of Moira Geoffrion, recently retired head of the University of Arizona Art Department to oversee the process of replacing the plaque. There are several goals in the replacement design. First, should the new plaque look like bronze, we need to find materials that can do this without having the inherent value of bronze, and still endure the test of time in the highlands. Another issue is whether to design and make a cast in the states, or in Scotland. Working with Chief McBain, we are also discussing if the new plaque should be an exact copy of the original, or if a tasteful new design is in order.
I think the plaque replacement should be an exact copy of the original. That what was originally there and it should be kept that way.
I’ll join John in voting for a replica of the original.
